-
Directors' Report
-
District and State performances went very well. Solo & Ensemble is coming
up on April 8th, and a handout regarding that will be forthcoming.
All-State will be April 20th-22nd. Rookie camp is
scheduled for May 22nd-26th, and other summer
schedule dates have been posted online on the Charms calendar.
-
The jazz bands will travel to MTSU for their festival on April 8th.
The bands will depart around 1 PM. B Jazz will perform at 4:30 PM, and A jazz
will perform at 6:00 PM. They should return home around 11 PM. Jazz band
students also participating in Solo & Ensemble will need to go that morning
so they can finish in time for the 1 PM departure.
-
Incoming freshmen can now choose to try out for the "competition" marching band
that will perform at half-time and go to marching competitions. Those who don't
will still play in the stands and participate in any pre-game shows. This is
intended to take some pressure off the new students and give them more time to
enjoy band and focus on school without the stress of long marching rehearsals.
-
Itineraries for the San Antonio trip have been handed out to students and are
also on Charms. Medications and forms must be turned in ASAP, either to Mrs.
Smith or to the school nurse. Medication forms are available in the band room
or online. Prescription medications must have both a doctor's signature and a
parent's signature. Students will be responsible for the cost of 6 meals on the
trip, while 6 other meals are included in the trip cost. The directors suggest
that students bring around $50 for meals. Students need to eat dinner before
the Wednesday departure or bring something with them on the bus. No glass is
allowed on the bus, only plastic. Buses will stop along the way for both rest
and meal breaks. Students will arrive home very late, probably between 12:30 AM
and 2 AM Monday morning. Students are expected to be in school Monday.
Headphones should be used on the buses when listening to music. Chaperones for
the trip will meet at 6 PM in the band room prior to departure.
-
Treasurers' Report
-
Our funds are extremely low at this point due to extra spending on the marching
program for increased gas and truck costs, combined with lower revenue from
fruit sales. More fundraisers are needed before the school year is out. Please
submit any ideas you have to the treasurers or anyone on the board. Due to the
fund shortage, please pay any remaining amounts on your account ASAP.
-
Balance statements for the San Antonio trip went out to students. Anyone with
an outstanding balance will not be allowed to travel.
-
Because of problems in previous years, payments for any outstanding band
fees submitted on or after April 24th prior to the banquet must be
paid with cash or cashier's check.

First VP Committee Reports
-
Banquet
Kathy Francica reported that the banquet is scheduled for May 5th,
6:30 PM at the VBC North Hall. Tickets are $20 for parents and other guests.
The banquet cost for students is included in their band fees. Because of this,
students with outstanding band fees cannot attend. Reservation
cards will be mailed out soon and must be sent back for all attending students
with their meal choice selected on the card. If parents are attending, their
payment should be sent back with the reservation card. All payments must be
received by April 28th; no exceptions. Photos can
still be submitted to Susan Field. Finally, the decoration committee needs 5-10
sets of white Christmas lights and some light-weight material for making a back
drop. Heavy cardboard or Masonite would be suitable.
-
Trucks
Dave Montgomery is driving the truck to San Antonio, but still needs an
assistant. Jim Kirsch is driving the truck to graduation.
-
Guard
Finished up their winter competitions over spring break. They received high
praise during their competition at the beginning of spring break, and received
a score of 83.9 in their competition at the end of spring break. That score was
the 2nd highest in the entire competition circuit, and they were
competing against college groups. Well done!

Second VP Committee Reports
-
Grants
Still working on the cell tower proposal, no updates yet.
-
Scrip
Still taking orders as well as selling what we already have. Ornaments are also
still on sale.
-
As an additional fundraiser, we will have a spaghetti dinner on April 29th
at either the school or a location TBA. Cost will be $7.50/adults and
$5/children 12 and under. Please come out and support this fundraiser since our
funding is at a critical low.
Adjournment: 7:51 PM
